Dear Norwegian Christian Home Family,

This week, a case of COVID-19, the illness resulting from the novel coronavirus, has been diagnosed in at least one resident of our facility.  Upon learning of this positive test result, the resident(s) was/were immediately placed in isolation at the Home.  In accordance with NYS regulations, we have notified officials from the New York State Department of Health.  Additionally, there is a handful of staff who have also tested positive.  Those individuals are being treated by their personal physicians.  We are optimistic that they will fully recover and return to work once medically cleared.

The Home is taking every precaution recommended and/or mandated by the Department of Health to contain the spread of this virus.  Our primary focus remains the health and well-being of the staff and residents of our Home.  Our mission has never been more meaningful.

Some of the protocols that have been implemented are:

  • Temperature/symptom check of all staff entering the Home
  • Strict Infection Control and Prevention initiatives
  • Stringent handwashing procedures
  • Continuous staff education
  • Utilization of appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE)
  • Social Distancing within the Home.

All of these protocols have been reviewed with Department of Health officials.

I would also like to recognize the staff of the Norwegian Christian Home and Health Center for their loyalty, dedication and commitment to our residents.  They are truly the Heroes of Healthcare.

I will provide updates on our website as necessary when more information becomes available.

Any questions may be directed to:  Ruth Brown-Roper, Infection Control Preventionist at (718) 306-5610.

Stay safe and God bless you all,

Anthony Restaino, CNHA
